PERSONALITY
Upon meeting her for the first time, most people find Mikazuki to be a calm and collected individual. The girl isn’t one to draw attention to herself and can usually be found immersing herself in her studies. As it is, Mikazuki is not an introvert – in fact she can be quite sociable when she wants to. Having been raised in an environment whereby she had been forced to learn to fend for herself at a young age had made her more tolerable of others. It is a habit of hers to greet people with a smile, and she is perfectly capable of acting civil even towards those she dislikes. She has an amicable personality, and she always makes it a point to try and get along with others.
Once people get to know her, they would come to realize that she has quite the dynamic personality. While Mikazuki is as forgiving as she is caring, the girl is as stubborn as they come. Once choosing a stance on an issue, it's very difficult to sway her from her initial opinion and unlikely to happen. She’s the type to stand her ground to the very end, consequences be damned. Having said that, she is also very passionate. Driven as she may be, it isn’t logic that normally dictates her actions but it is her emotions that compel her to act. It isn’t something she’s proud to admit, but the girl is much more impulsive than she lets on. And as person so controlled by her emotions, Mikazuki sometimes fails to keep her temper in check. She’s been known to take on a more sarcastic tone when enraged. Fortunately her anger, easily sparked to the level of that of an inferno, can be easily quelled. It isn’t often that she loses her temper, and such an occurrence almost always leaves her emotionally drained and physically exhausted causing her to become exceptionally sensitive towards others.
As for the negatives; Mikazuki has a knack for finding trouble. Though in her defence, it’s usually trouble that finds her. Ever since she could remember, the girl had always had the worst luck. Granted that her ‘incredible’ luck rarely ever rears its unwarranted head, but when it does finally make its presence known, it’s always in the worst way possible. Somehow, whenever there’s something big brewing, Mikazuki almost consistently finds herself getting caught smack-dab in the middle of it. There was that one time when she was literally found herself in the midst of a skirmish between a group of thugs on her way home from school, she thought herself lucky to have gotten away from it with only a couple of bruises and a spilt lip. Another occasion found her trapped in the school’s basement after hours. Granted that it wasn’t as bad as the run in with the thugs, but she’d been scared as hell that day, and being stuck in the dark for hours on end didn’t help any either. Of course, having experienced so many interesting encounters throughout her life, Mikazuki’s made quite the few unlikely acquaintances – some of whom she even considers her friends.
To friends and loved ones alike, Mikazuki is very much an open book. She is the kind of girl to wear her heart on her sleeves and put her trust completely in the hands of those closest to her. Some would say that she gives away her trust too freely and that she should be more careful of whom she befriends. But Mikazuki knows what it’s like to be alone and firmly believes that everyone deserves to be given a chance; that they shouldn’t have to take on the world on their own. And if helping to ease another’s burden meant offering others her friendship, then so be it. She would do so willingly as she knows how much companionship can come to mean to a person. She had experienced it for herself first hand after all, and she likes to think that she’d become a better person because of it.
EXTRAS
As a child born to a single parent, Mikazuki had learned from a very young age to be self-sufficient. Hers was a low income family and with her mother gone to work from morning till night, the girl had no choice but to be less dependent of others and learn to take care of herself. Her upbringing had also caused her to become somewhat of an introvert in her early years. Socializing had never been one of her strengths – it was something she was unaccustomed to – and while other children spent their past time playing with dolls or toy cars, Mikazuki spent hers helping her mother with the laundry and other household chores. And when she wasn’t busy helping around the house, she was a diligent student, immersing herself entirely in her studies.
As she got older, Mikazuki had gotten better at interacting with others and became less introverted. She had even managed to form a small circle of friends. She hadn’t been entirely close with them, but she had hung out with them at school and found their company favourable. Her peers had tried to get her to open up to them more, but Mikazuki was a private person and she the thought of divulging her life story to others had never appealed to her. She wasn’t secretive or defensive, but her reluctance to share her burdens had created a distinct gap between herself and her friends. In high school, however, she had finally warmed up to them.
It was during her second year in high school, after having had to deal with the stress of having a part-time job (she had refused to allow her mother to shoulder the family’s financial burden on her own) and her studies, when she finally broke down. The pressure of taking on all those extra responsibilities weighed heavily on her, and when the weight of it all became too much, her defences came crashing down around her. That was the first time she had allowed herself to cry, all alone in an empty classroom, and it was her group of friends who had appeared to console her. Ever since then, they had become a tight knitted group of people who did practically everything together. Mikazuki became more open and outright with her feelings after that, and soon she came to develop a more affectionate streak. Those days filled with happiness and companionship came to an end one rainy evening, however, when her mother announced that she had been reassigned to a new post.
Now living in the town of Amakuji, away from her friends and the life she had once known, Mikazuki had unconsciously reverted back to her old personality, albeit it was a bit more toned down. She tries to be optimistic about the move, but with the odd rumours flying around, and old legends of hauntings being told, it’s becoming harder and harder for her to find anything pleasant about her new home. She’s still determined to keep her optimism however, and absolutely refuses to give up on the place.
-----------------------------------------------
Despite the strong front she puts on, this headstrong young woman is actually one of the biggest scaredy cats you’ll ever meet. She is immensely afraid of the dark, thunderstorms terrify her, confined spaces freak her out, and any mention of anything even remotely supernatural makes her blood run cold. It’s amazing really that a person with so great a number of fears has been able to take care of herself all these years (without developing a severe case of paranoia). Well, for most of the part anyway.
Aside from her fear of a great many things, there really isn’t all that much to her. She’s pretty much an average high school student with normal interests, and her main objective thus far is to get through her lasts year of high school and perhaps to receive a distinction upon graduation.
Appearance wise, standing at the height of five feet seven inches, Mikazuki had the lean and lither build of a person accustomed to speed and agility. Her naturally blond hair reaches past her hips and is styled in wavy layers with the strands lengthening from front to back. Along with a fair complexion, Mikazuki is gifted with high cheekbones, full lips and a stubborn chin. She had often been told that her most prominent physical feature would have to be her bright, sapphire colored eyes. With regard to clothing, Mikazuki doesn’t have any specific style that she likes. As far as she’s concerned, as long as the articles of clothing are neither impractical nor constricting, anything goes
