There was something about afternoon that made him lazy. Perhaps the way the sky slowly transformed to look like a mixture of reds and yellows, all painted high above, the evening breeze quietly settling in, but not quiet yet, and the hustle and bustle of the morning turned into a slow trot all in itself. Or perhaps it was the smells and sights of the town that got to him, as restaurants were opening their doors, ready for the dinner rush that was bound to come. These were the thoughts of an idle feline, allowing himself the time to contemplate on his own behavior. His body had felt heavy, and so the cat had flumped himself on the nearest bench unoccupied bench, never mind that certain older folk were giving him strange looks. Did they expect him to be happy laying on the cold unforgiving floor? Or more likely, perched on a wall, looking to and fro? Maybe. But he was feel a bit lethargic now, whatever they had in mind would have to take backseat to what he was thinking himself. He wasn't simply as he seemed of course, an ordinary feline, a stray, with oddly enough clean fur as compared to the mangy alley cats that roamed the streets. His yellow fur seemed luminous in the reddening light, streaks of brown seemed darker. He flicked his tail, and held his head up in the air, sniffing. He had to make sure that there weren't any other Guardians, such as himself, around, unless he wanted a bad surprise. As it was, there seemed to be none, and he contently lay himself down, turning to his side to watch others walk past. There had been little that kept Yuuma's attention for the day, the usual meanderings of the people within the town. He had watched them tend to their gardens, go to school, panic over to the bus. Really, such simple things that kept the people going on and on. Sometimes he felt like he wanted to turn human, or as close as he get, slap them silly and tell them to do more important things. But he knew that wasn't a good idea, having learned that not every human was keen on the idea of something out of the ordinary happening. And so here he lay, slowly drifting to sleep. A little cat nap, if you will. OoC; Just a short open thread. :'D Please bother him. though half of me is gone, the lonesome part is left, [atrb=style, border-top: #202020 10px solid; border-bottom: #202020 10px solid; width: 450px; background: url(http://i56.tinypic.com/1zfkf3b.png); text-align: justify; padding: 5px;][atrb=border,0,true] what was he out here doing again? oh right. starvation was starting to get to him. his stomach growled loudly at the mere thought of food and the smells of opening restauraunts were getting the better of him, almost making him sick. he ate enough to keep alive but other than that, he tried not to worry too much about it. but clearly lack of food was starting to get to him and the stray wandered off, searching a way to catch a meal. unfortunately, not all humans were really generous. let alone want to give food to some stray. so it was days like this he sort of had to misbehave. hey, he kept these people protected. the least they could do was give him food. or at least that's what he tried to keep in mind to justify such actions as he was about to commit.
he wasn't one for being so cliche but the hot dog stand they had set up nearby for tourist season was calling his name. it was pretty easy to steal when you weren't just a normal animal. one shouldn't really take pride in it but in this case, he was glad he could pull things like this off. so while the salesman was busy receiving his pay from a recent customer, hiro managed to sneak by and grab a dog to eat, almost slipping away scot-free till an observant human caught sight of him and pointed it out with a laugh. the man running the stand however wasn't too amused, chasing after hiro angrily and shouting curses as he tried to capture him. the dog was just too fast for him however and hiro made it out of there, opting to hide out in town square for a bit to enjoy his meal. he just didn't anticipate the company he'd run into there.
hiro trotted around, eyes scanning for a nice place to sit down and relax for a bit. it of course meant he'd have to avoid most humans. the townspeople didn't very well like his company so he'd have to find a place a little secluded. or at least a place he could hide. of course while he was searching for the perfect place, his eyes rested on a brightly colored ball of fur on a nearby bench. he immediately stopped, ears perking as he examined it from afar. of course he really couldn't tell what it was from the distance. curiosity got the better of him though and he slowly made his way towards it, finishing his meal on the way. and once he was finally close enough, he realized it was a cat. not just any cat though, there was that distinct scent from it. that normal scent that came from other's of his kind. it was a guardian just like him. unfortunately, that didn't really matter as much. sometimes animal traits can become quite a hassle for a guardian, causing them to behave more feral than rational. and this case was no different.
regardless if he was a guardian, he was still a cat and naturally, their species didn't tend to mix well. it seemed the cat was asleep though which certainly didn't help his current mindset change. it was a cat. something he wanted to mess with. to annoy. and he couldn't ignore his animalistic behavior. with that in mind he growled at the feline, releasing a loud bark to catch his attention.

He was slowly sinking into a state of slumber, already it seemed as though his senses were dimming bit by bit. Sooner or later he would have drifted into unconsciousness. It was inevitable, the warm sun on his fur, only the slightest bit of noise from his surroundings. Were it not for the quirky smell that reached his nose that is. He twitched at the scent, slowly roused by it, but his brain was still trying to catch up. it was certainly familiar, though he couldn't place a paw on it just yet. He leisurely raised his head, and turned to see what it was that had delayed his sleep. If cats could gag on nothing then he would have, as it was he made something like he was about to choke on a hair ball as hiroshi growled at him. He didn't have any particular quarrel with dogs, choosing to avoid them if he could, but there was something special about that Inumimi that made his fur stand on ends. Was it the knowledge of knowing what each other were, or pure instinct on the matter? He didn't know, though obviously the other didn't take too kindly at him as well. Yuuma flicked his tail, looking at Hiroshi with waning patience as a look of annoyance crept to his face. He hissed at the barking, ears low on his head as he bared teeth to the dog. And yet he still stayed by his seat on the bench, stubbornly remaining on his spot. As if he would move from his little comfort zone just to give the canine more attention. Nah, it would almost be as if he was giving Hiroshi too much importance if he did that. He sniffed gingerly at the other, just to be sure that he was indeed another Guardian, only to quickly draw back in case Hiroshi saw it as an aggressive move. Yep, now he was sure that the other wasn't just some stray dog. What do you want, poochy? He thought, even in his mind it had sounded snappy. The Nekomimi wasn't even sure if he could hear him. On the rare occasion that he had decided to communicate with humans, it hadn't exactly worked out a hundred percent. Either he wasn't concentrating hard enough, or the person simply not receptive enough, he wasn't sure. As it was, he was curious if his thoughts would reach the Inumimi. though half of me is gone, the lonesome part is left, [atrb=style, border-top: #202020 10px solid; border-bottom: #202020 10px solid; width: 450px; background: url(http://i56.tinypic.com/1zfkf3b.png); text-align: justify; padding: 5px;][atrb=border,0,true] animal behaviors had a tendency to be quite troublesome. this was a perfect example. normally he would have just avoided the cat, not let it get to him that it was in the same area because that would include confrontation as well as socialization of which he was poorly skilled. but no. it was times like this that his animal side overrun the rational portion of his brain and caused him to react on instinct. he couldn't ignore the feline and in his mind no matter how foolish it seemed, the cat was invading personal space and he had to get rid of it. or at least show it who was boss. even if this one happened to be a guardian. then again his current feralistic mindset completely disregarded that fact at the moment and instead he was set on chasing this cat off.
if anything, the feline's initial reaction was pretty rewarding in itself. but then again, who wouldn't be spooked by suddenly being growled awake? a human he had met not too long ago had proved even his bark could cause some fright. so he wasn't too surprised. unfortunately that reaction only seemed to egg him on and he continued to growl, watching the cat's fur stand while a line from the top of his head to the beginning of his tail mirrored it as well, bristling a bit as his tail stood up straight in that typical dominant stance as he showed off his own stubbornness, not at all frightened when the cat began to hiss at him or showing any sign of wavering at that annoyed look on his face. he found himself daring a step closer, releasing a bark at the unrelenting glare from the cat who was surely becoming impatient with his actions. it was only a matter of time till the cat might have lashed out at him. hiro at least managed to keep that in mind, refraining from trying to get too close or even make any moves that could cause him to get a scratch from those nasty claws. he could do without another mark thank you very much. the scar between his eyes didn't need any company.
he hadn't expected the cat to actually try to sniff at him though and the closer movement from the smaller animal caused him to tense up a bit, his body going completely still as he waited to see what he would do, giving a low threatening growl to assure him that if he tried anything he wouldn't be afraid to attack. of course seeing as he was a fellow guardian, he would have some remorse if he accidentally hurt him just because he got a little too close for comfort so he managed to keep his instincts controlled somewhat, relieved when the other retracted. this guardian seemed to have a control of his animal side. or at least was better at it than he was. which sadly wasn't saying much. primarily living as an animal for so long could do that to a guardian.
'What do you want, poochy?'
something seemed to click at the sound of the fellow guardian's thoughts, snapping him out of his current mindset and bringing out the more rational side of hiro. he seemed to calm down a bit after that. well, besides the growl at the rather insulting nickname but that was merely to vocalize his annoyance about it. and the snappy tone clearly expressed how annoyed he was about him just being there and interrupting his nap it seemed. he might have felt sorry and apologized but hiro wasn't that nice. of course he decided it would be better to say something in regard to it rather than just totally leave him now. besides, he was still stubborn. just because the cat didn't like him here didn't mean he was going to leave anytime soon. he wasn't sure if that was because he actually wanted to be there or because he found it pleasing that the feline was irritated by his presence. either way, he wasn't leaving. he'd stay there for as long as he damned well pleased.
with a huff, he finally sat down, the humans that had witnessed there previous little situation seeming to calm as well and continue on their merry way as he looked up to the cat still planted on the bench. it seemed as if he had claimed it. typical. 'nothing furball. just wanted to keep you on your toes.' he finally responded, the tone of his even making him sound like he was smirking at the thought, almost proud of himself for getting on the feline's nerves. which was pretty much the exact feeling he had at the moment. of course knowing now that he was indeed a nekomimi, he seemed to have dropped his previous idea to try to chase him off and instead opted to examine this guardian he happened to stumble on. it wasn't every day that he ran into his own kind. not just because their kind didn't interact much but also because he wasn't very favored among them. so he wasn't sure if this guy knew him. either way he didn't think that changed the fact he wasn't thrilled about having his company. so he supposed he'd just see how long it would take before the cat would try to get him out of there. if he had the balls anyway.
though then again he supposed he could surprise him. but he wasn't going to fool himself into believing that was an actual possibility. he'd be amazed if he'd want his company, regardless of whether or not he interrupted his nap. like their animal species, nekomimi and inumimi didn't get along much. like... well... cats and dogs really.
with that all said and done, hiro decided to take it upon himself to get comfortable, lying down on the much cooler ground, his tongue rolling out the side of his maw. where this guy might like the heat, hiro could do without it, preferring the cold over all. he still kept his distance, or as much as he could anyway without getting in the way of passerby humans, as well making sure he was close enough to keep an eye on his feline 'friend' just in case he did try to pull anything.
